Description
Mourning Doves raise three or more broods in a single breeding season. Both parents build a platform nest of twigs located from 5 to 25 feet up. Two white eggs hatch in about 14 - 16 days. One egg is laid in the evening, and the second on the next morning. My Gazebo's Television stand, is a favorite place for the mourning doves to build their nest, and in the 20 years I have been here, I watched them build numerous nests and hatch 2-3 eggs, multiple times a year, then get the chicks out of the nest and on their own, to come back and do it all over again. hard working pair of birds. They are so use to me snapping pictures, they don't even move when I approach the nest. I have a perfect view of them thru the kitchen window.
