Description
In 1995, I took this picture of the Uluru/Ayers Rock Sacred Mountain, with my Canon camera, and just came across some of those pictures..That morning we climb to the top of the rock, with the help of rope and chains placed there to aid the climb, and signed our names in the official record book, we were lucky to escape unharmed since a busload of young asians came climbing up the rock actually stepping over some of us to get to the top,we never had a chance to take any more pictures it got so hectic. Amazing experience.
Uluru , also known as Ayers Rock ,and officially as "Uluru / Ayers Rock",is a large sandstone rock formation in the southern part of the Northern Territory in central Australia. It lies 335 km south west of the nearest large town, Alice Springs, by road.
Uluru is sacred to the Aboriginal people of the area. The area around the formation is home to an abundance of springs, waterholes, rock caves and ancient paintings. Uluru is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Uluru and Kata Tjuta, also known as the Olgas, are the two major features of the Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park.
Uluru is notable for appearing to change color at different times of the day and year, most notably when it glows red at dawn and sunset. The evening light show is a must along with a meal surrounded by music of the Didjeridu, an ancient wind instrument, making wonderful sounds
